Cave Story
From Mario Fan Games Galaxy Wiki
Cave Story (Doukutsu Monogatari) is a fad that attacks MFGG in waves. It originally arrived shortly after Studio Pixel released the game, and after it was translated. It instantly became a bit hit for it's Metroid-like qualities, and many MFGGers took a liking to it. The fad soon died once people began to complete the game, although it was still considered to be one of the best 2D games of it's type.
As Cave Story hacking equipment surfaced, MFGG Story was born; a Cave Story Hack with MFGGers replacing the characters in game. This created an 80 page topic and was stickied, and Cave Story became a fad once again.
Then, after a while, Marty decided to have a go at creating "Cave Story 2" - an unofficial sequel to Cave Story. This became a project almost instantly, and many MFGGers contributed with sprites in Marty's developed style. Again, this topic was stickied in the PPP, where it remains to this day.
Cave Story is due for an official release on the PSP, although through flash cards it is possible to play a demo of it on the DS.
Cave Story is also due for a official release on the Wii as a WiiWare. The Cave Story Wii will include updated sprites and music. With the ability to switch between the updated look and sound or the classic cave story.
On Nov 17 2008, the member Badassbill made a topic on MFGG. Stating that he was working on Cave Story Wii. And that someone and maybe a few others had leaked some of his work on to the forum. Which later on MechaBowser fessed up to posting some of the work. Badassbill also said that the topic with the leaked work was deleted before he could see it. Not knowing the topic wasn't deleted and was in the CCC the whole time. But since Badassbill doesn't have Causal Member status. He didn't know that the thread was still around. And he also said the the leaked work was not to be seen until Cave Story Wii was released. The original thread that was made by Badassbill can be seen here
